Q: CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE US A BRIEF INTRO ABOUT YOURSELF - PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE?
A: I’m Jaydon Terblanche, involved in football as both a player and coach since 19. I’ve played for Santos FC, Vasco Da Gama, and Rygersdal FC. After a knee injury at 19, I transitioned into coaching and haven’t looked back. My goal is to coach at the top level in South Africa and internationally.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR COACHING PHILOSOPHY AND HOW DID YOU CREATE YOUR PHILOSOPHY?

A: My philosophy focuses on structured possession-based football and dominating transitions. I’ve combined the principles of Jose Mourinho’s awareness of transitions and Pep Guardiola’s fluid possession game.

Q: IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL SKILL FOR A PLAYER/COACH TO MASTER?

A: Understanding the individual as a person first, then as a footballer. Creating a comfortable environment where everyone is equal is key to success.

Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE NEW COACHES STARTING THEIR COACHING JOURNEY?
A: Always be open to learning. The best coaches are constantly looking for ways to improve, and we should never stop learning from those around us.

Q: HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE DIFFERENT ABILITIES OF PLAYERS WITHIN YOUR SQUADS?
A:I focus on players’ strengths first. When confidence is high, it’s easier to work on their weaknesses and influence their development.

Q: HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH SETBACKS (POOR PERFORMANCES, INJURIES, LOSING, ETC)?

A: I assess the situation and look at myself first to understand what led to the setback. Then, I work with the players to address the issue and fix it without damaging their morale.

Q: WHAT IS THE BEST LIFE LESSON YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM FOOTBALL?

A: Stay humble, always respect others, and smile. Show confidence, as it can uplift others who are struggling with confidence.

Q: WHICH COACH/MANAGER INSPIRES YOU?

A: I draw inspiration from Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, as well as Sir Alex Ferguson, who sets the benchmark.
